Meet the CHRYSALIS AWARDS 2020 Working Group

Suzanne Haerther

She has driven the local USGBC Georgia mission for over seven years! She is the “man behind the curtain” (a Wizard of Oz reference), and our community chapter could not survive without her. Suzanne has led the upgrade of the new CHRYSALIS AWARDS website and made the leadership awards in its second year more accessible than ever to our Georgia community.

What excites you about the CHRYSALIS AWARDS?

“It’s always inspiring to see the great work that is being accomplished around Georgia and the difference people are making in their communities.”

Jaida Holbrook

Volunteering for a second year in a row to not only support USGBC Georgia annual fundraiser, leadership awards, but most importantly the remarkable individuals driving our local chapter mission. When she is not partnering with clients to support their high-performance building goals, she is gardening. Jaida is transforming her backyard into a permaculture edible garden.

What excites you about the CHRYSALIS AWARDS?

“I love bringing people together, and honoring a diversity of green leaders is one way of building a community and sparking innovation. The built environment is more than just a building, and this award celebrates that!”

Beth Ament

Fast to pinpoint the priorities. She is the driver of the CHRYSALIS AWARDS To-Do List. As the new Associate Director, Beth elevates the chapter's mission to bring the sustainability community together. With over ten years of transportation demand management experience, she is used to challenges. Her yoga instructor certification keeps her mindful and present during these unprecedented times.

What excites you about the CHRYSALIS AWARDS?

"It's the conversations that inspire me. It is having the opportunity to network with the talented, creative, and passionate humans behind the projects and in the community that excite me the most! It's an honor to work in the same industry as the sustainability professionals who are brought together by the CHRYSALIS AWARDS."

E.V. Bennett

Quick to respond and eyes like a hawk for project details, she was integral to the CHRYSALIS AWARDS website upgrade. She helped take the awards ceremony to a new level of excellence. E.V. also leads the Silent Auction drive, an integral fundraiser for our local USGBC Georgia chapter. With over 15 years of high-performance certification, she is passionate about Sustainability in and out of the work environment.

What excites you about the CHRYSALIS AWARDS?

“I’m excited to see the variety of applicants for the CHRYSALIS AWARDS as they highlight such a variety of people and projects making an impact on the sustainable fabric of Georgia! I’m also excited to see what fun items we have as part of the Silent Auction this year!”

------

Chandra Farley

She has been a well-known leader in the local sustainability community for many years. She is a community builder, and her work with Just Energy places equity at the front of the energy, democracy, and climate justice conversation. With a voice that leads a room, she walks the talk—not owning a car in Atlanta for almost ten years! Chandra has placed a much-desired equity lens on the CHRYSALIS AWARDS this year.

What excites you about the CHRYSALIS AWARDS?

“Sustainability falls short without a foundation in equity and inclusion of the community. I am excited that the CHRYSALIS AWARDS is shining a light on both of these values from the planning committee work to the awards themselves.”

------

Stephanie Teta

She knows how to manage and communicate a successful event. Her professional experience as a project manager over a diversity of industries, storytelling skills, and passion for Sustainability have assisted in planning an event during these unprecedented times. Stephanie is always coming to the table with a positive attitude and supporting USGBC Georgia’s mission, making her an integral team member and community leader.

What excites you about the CHRYSALIS AWARDS?

"The CHRYSALIS AWARDS bring together so many like-minded individuals doing amazing sustainability work. I look so forward to engaging with people from different backgrounds and industries, all fighting for a common goal of making the world a better place. The ideas that come out of such a gathering are really powerful and give us hope for the future."

------

Allison Cunningham

A veteran USGBC Georgia volunteer, she knows the ins and outs and is committed to serving. Recently joining the Working Group didn't stop her from hitting the ground running. She is a leading sustainability consultant, recently inducted LEED Fellow, and passionate about the environment. Allison is integral to the Georgia sustainability community, and the Working Group is happy to have her on board.
